BABINEAU, LEONIE C. - 93, of Parrsboro, Cumberland County passed away quietly on Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at home. Born in Upper Sackville, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Delphine (Pettipas) Landry. She was a wife of 68 years to her husband, Harvey, a loving mother and third generation grandmother, a devoted mother in law and a special friend to many. As well, she was a devote Catholic and a long time member of the C.W.L. During her younger years, she was a secretary for the Fawcette Foundry of Sackville, N.B. She was a bookkeeper for her husband while he was a logging contractor and later was a cook in a lumber camp. During her later years, she operated with her husband a family farm later to be known as Babineau and Son. She is survived by daughters, Clara Blanchard and her husband, Joseph, Parrsboro; Diana Doubleday and her husband, Noble, Upper Tantallon; sons, Dennis and his wife, Donna, New Prospect; Ivan and his wife, Marilyn, Eastern Passage; Louie and his wife, Barbara, Parrsboro; George and his wife, Joan, Onslow; sisters, Mary Landry, Mississauga, Ontario; Alveta Landry, Malartic, Quebec; brothers, Clovis and his wife, Lydia, Middle Sackville, N.B.; George and his wife, Ann, Renfrew, Ontario; 21 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey; two daughters in infancy; sisters, Eva; a sister in infancy; brothers, Levi, Dennis, a brother in infancy. Visitation Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Brigid's Catholic Church, Rev. Gaetan Banyog-enne officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Brigid's Catholic Church or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
