Mary E. Graham
Graham, Mary Elizabeth Sabina - 83, of Diligent River, Cumberland County passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2002 at Bayview Memorial Health Centre, Advocate Harbour. Born March 3, 1919 in Oyster Pond, Jeddore, she was the eldest daughter of the late Avery and Lucy (Mitchell) Hill. A graduate of the Maritime Business Academy, she was employed as a stenographer for Nightingale, Hayman before her marriage to G. Harris J. Graham in May of 1946. She was a Charter member of the Fairfield Chapter, Dartmouth IODE and was a member of the Grace Keeler Missionary Group, First Baptist in Dartmouth. Later she was an active volunteer at the South Cumberland Adult Day Care Centre, Parrsboro and was a member of the Shore Bells singing group. She was also a member of the Women's Missionary Group of the Parrsboro Baptist Church. Besides her husband, Harris, she is survived by daughters, Harriet McWhirter and her husband, Harvie, Crowe's Mills; Lucy, Lethbridge, Alberta; Ruth Couture and her husband, Alain, Harare, Zimbabwe; grandchildren, Patrick McWhirter, Toronto; Averill McWhirter, Halifax; a sister, Harriet (Hattie) Kidston; a brother, Guy, both of Dartmouth. She was predeceased by a brother, George. Visitation will be held 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral in celebration of her life will be held Monday, April 29, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the Diligent River Baptist Church, Rev. Ralph Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A reception will be held in the Diligent River Community Hall following the committal service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diligent River Baptist Church. |
