MCLEAN, DANIEL A. – 78, of Five Islands, Colchester County died Wednesday, July 3, 2002 at South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late Allan and Katherine (MacDonald) McLean. He was a veteran of World War II and was the recipient of the 1939-44 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He was a retired iron worker having constructed bridges throughout Eastern Canada. He is survived by daughters, Catherine Rephin, Cranbrook, B.C.; Danielle, Five Islands; Virginia, Amherst; June, Banff, Alberta; Constance, Five Islands; sons, Daniel A. Jr., Five Islands; Stephen, Moncton; step-son, Larry; sisters, Annie Bowen, Sydney Mines; Sarah MacDonald, Westmount; brothers, Edward, Joseph; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife, Virginia; sisters, Adeline, Marie; brothers, Gussie, James. Funeral service 2 p.m. Saturday at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, Father Gaetan Banyog-enne officiating. Burial in the Lower Five Islands Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of choice. |
