Charles E. Harrison
1929 - 2003

Harrison, Charles E. - 73, of Harrison Settlement, Cumberland County passed away peacefully Thursday, March 6, 2003 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Harrison Settlement, he was the son of the late C. Ernest and Vinnie (Fullerton) Harrison. He operated, with his family, C. Ernest Harrison and Sons Ltd. in Halfway River. Also, he was very active in his community serving as Past President of the Maritime Lumber Bureau, Past President of the Wild Blueberry Association of Nova Scotia. He was a member of Crossroads Blueberry Co-op and active with many other industry and community organizations. He was Past Financial Officer of South Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Parrsboro and Past Deacon and choir member of Parrsboro Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his life-long love of music. He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Brown; sons, Raymond (Cheryl), Athol; Rod (Shelley), Halfway River; Peter (Gisella), Waverley; brothers, Donald, Fox River; Gary (Bertha), Parrsboro; grandchildren, Troy, Crystal, Paige, Justin, Jonah, Jasmine, Ben, Katharine, Thomas; great grandchildren, Katie, Taylor, Connor, Christie, Alex, Jackson, Dakota; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Norma Hebb; an infant brother, Glenn; great granddaughter, Faith. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral service 2 p.m. Monday at Parrsboro Baptist Church, Rev. Greg Doyle officiating. Burial in the Harrison Settlement Cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Palliative Care of South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro or a charity of choice.

Our family has lost an irreplaceable leader. We’ve loved, admired and respected many men, but no one as deserving as you. We’ll try not to be sad that you are gone but realize how lucky we were to have had you. Thank you for giving so freely your time, your patience, and your spirit.
