Allen, Clifford R. – 69, of Miller Road, Pugwash passed away Sunday, October 19, 2003 at home, with his family by his side. Born November 7, 1933 in Pugwash, he was the son of the late Cyrus and Jennie (MacDonald) Allen. He was a former employee of 17 years at the Pugwash Salt Mine, and was a retired fisherman of 49 years. He is survived by his first love of his life and wife of 51 years, Vera (Winters); daughters, Goldie Pipes (Bruce), Northport; Jennie Lee MacArthur (Rollie), Dartmouth; Carolyn Spencer (Kevin), Pugwash; Margaret "Peggy", Pugwash; Barbara Smith (Roddie), Trenton; Lori-Ann Sarson (Carl), Pugwash; sons, Clifford Jr., Pugwash; William "Bill" (Kim), Pugwash; a brother, Whitney, Pugwash; a sister, Goldie King, Windsor, Ont.; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, William; 2 granddaughters, a grandson; a great-granddaughter. Visitation 1:00-3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro followed by funeral at 3:00 p.m., Rev. Mark Pretty officiating. Burial in St. George’s Anglican Cemetery, Parrsboro. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
