Zwicker, Agnes Vaughn – 84, of Parrsboro, rests in the arms of Jesus. “Vonnie” known by hundreds of friends, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at South Cumberland Community Care Center, Parrsboro. She was a woman of great faith in the Lord. Vonnie was a life long resident of Parrsboro. She loved her community and experienced the appreciation of a multitude of her fellow citizens. She was a member of St. Brigid’s Church and honored for over 50 years of faithful dedication in service as a member of the Catholic Women’s League. She also worked as a volunteer fund raiser for various charities including the Canadian Cancer Society and the Red Cross, as well as local service organization financial campaigns. Vonnie was a proud parent, grandmother and great-grandmother. The accomplishments of her family, along with nieces and nephews, were always on her lips and her photo gallery of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends were prominently displayed on the walls of her home and on the wall of her care center room. She is survived by her son Jerry (Bev), Halifax; sisters, Florence Willigar, Parrsboro; Josephine Yorke, Elliott Lake; five grandchildren, Joseph (Jackie), Paula (Dave), Susan (Steve), Gerald (Tami), Greg (Jenny); five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Madalyn, Tyler, Perris Mei and Cole; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father; her husband, Edward; her son, Joseph (“Snookie”); along with brothers, Alex, Vincent, Maxwell and sister Dorothy. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service in celebration of Vonnie’s life will be held at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church, Parrsboro on Tuesday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m. with Father David MacDonald and Deacon David Shortt officiating. No visitation or flowers by request. Donations may be made to the South Cumberland Community Care Center Access-A-Bus Campaign Fund. Arrangements entrusted to Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro.
