Yorke, Edith M. - 83, of Five Islands, Colchester County was wrapped in angel wings and taken gently to heaven on Monday, May 17, 2004 at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Lower Five Islands, she was the daughter of the late James William and Ruth Ann (Wood) Eagles. She was a member of the Five Islands Peniel United Church and former member of the Senior Citizen’s Club. She enjoyed watching the birds at her feeders, her flower gardens, knitting, cooking doughnuts, and her cat, Mitzie. She is survived by daughters, Meredith Lewis (Ivan), Bass River; Judith Lewis (Gordon), Bass River; Linda Dowe (Emerson), Five Islands; Eleanor Lewis (Elson), Beaver Bank; Annette Gourley (George), Stewaicke; sons, Richard (Linda), Bass River; Mitchell (Bonnie), Five Islands; a sister, Elsie Davis, Lower Five Islands; a brother, Clarence Eagles, Truro; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Alton; sisters, Blanche, Floretta, Freda, Hazel, Ann, Inez, Edna, Evelyn; brothers, Hilbert; Harold. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Peniel United Church, Five Islands, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Florence Antle-Brison officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
