Benjamin, Gertrude E. – 92, of Fox River, Cumberland County passed away, Monday, October 25, 2004 at South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Diligent River, she was the daughter of the late William and Sabra (Welton) Bowden. She was a resident of White Birches Retirement Residence in Amherst for 12 years. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters for many years. She is survived by daughters, Alta Fife (Murray), West Brook; Hilda Tibbetts (Wayne), Ward's Brook and Florida; Carolyn MacDonald (Archie), Sydney; Brenda Bowden (Wyman), Fox River; Beverley MacLeod (Blaise), Marion Bridge; sons, Elson (Fran), Kentville; Aubrey (Shirley), Halifax; Hollie (Doris), Parrsboro; 22 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth; a son, William; sisters, Sadie, Mary, Alice, Lillian, Eva; brothers, Perley, Clinton, Max, Clem, Darrell. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday (October 27, 2004) at the Port Greville United Church, Rev. Donna Lovelace officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Memorial donations to Grace United Church, Port Greville or to South Cumberland Community Care Centre Foundation, Parrsboro.
