Kenneth V. Canning
1915 - 2006

Canning, Kenneth V. - 90, of Mill Street, Parrsboro passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Cumberland Regional Health Centre, Upper Nappan. Born in Parrsboro, he was a son of the late John and Maude (Lamb) Canning. Ken worked with the Crossroads Co-op in Parrsboro from 1945 to 1974 and was responsible for the construction of the Co-op Store completed in 1962. As well, he was one of the founding members of the Crossroads Blueberry Co-op. He was recognized by the Nova Scotia Co-operative Council as a “Distinguished Co-operator.” He is survived by his wife, the former Mary (McAloney) Canning; step sons, Philip Canning (Judy Aylward), Parrsboro; Morris Canning (Gleneida), Parrsboro; 3 step grandchildren; a step great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Marguerite Atkinson. A private family service will take place at a later date. The family will receive visitors at the Canning home on Mill Street, Parrsboro on Saturday, May 6, 2006 from 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Parrsboro Baptist Church or St. George’s Anglican Church, Parrsboro.
