Barbara A. Roberts
1939 - 2006

ROBERTS, Barbara A. - 66, of Moose River, Cumberland Co., and formerly of Moncton, N.B., passed away as a result of a tragic accident on Thursday, August 10, 2006 in Moose River. Born in Grand Falls-Windsor, N.L., she was a daughter of the late Eric and Lillian (Critchley) Pride. She was a long-time resident of Moncton where she was employed with Sysco, retiring to Moose River in 2003. Barbara was an avid reader and talented seamstress. She loved to garden, bake, cross-stitch and make crafts. Christmas time was always extra special as she would display all her many collectables and seasonal handiwork, as well as, bake an abundance of favorite family treats. She loved to travel and experience new adventures, but her favorite place of all was the seaside. As recent as last summer, she completed a journey across Canada. She and Laurie had the time of their lives. Barb was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will always be remembered for putting others before herself. She was an active community member who was dedicated to helping others. Even during her illness, she inspired others through her strong determination and positive outlook. Barb will be deeply missed by her family and vast network of friends. She is survived by her husband, Laurie; daughter, Dianne McInnis (Reg), Dartmouth; sons, Brian (Tanya), Moncton; Barry (Janet), Moose River; sisters, Sadie Scott, Cold Lake, Alta.; June Oldford, Grand Falls-Windsor, N.L.; Nellie Cormier, Ajax, Ont.; sister-in-law, Wendy Roberts, Parrsboro; brothers, Harry (Christine), St. John's, N.L.; Warren (Kathe), Parksville, B.C.; brother-in-law, Kenneth Roberts (Charlotte), Moose River; grandchildren, Connor and Evan McInnis; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Gordon. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Monday, 2-4 p.m. Tuesday in Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. George's Anglican Church, Parrsboro, Rev. Mark Pretty officiating. Burial in St. Mark's Cemetery, Moose River. Memorial donations to the Friends of the Moncton City Hospital or to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Although not the cause of her death, she was recovering from a battle with cancer. Her family would like to acknowledge the staff of the neurology and oncology units at Moncton City Hospital, as well as her many friends, for all their loving care.
