SPENCE, Diana M. - 62, of Amherst and formerly of Parrsboro, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 18, 2008, in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan. Born in Parrsboro, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Doris (Pettigrew) Pettigrew. She is survived by her husband, Percy, Parrsboro; daughters, Kim Metz (Brian Shreenan), Truro; Amanda Hirtle (Dave Morrissey), Parrsboro; sons, Ricky (Sherry), Amherst; Perry (Shelly Caballero), Springhill; Allan, Springhill; sisters, Peggy Gilbert (Gordon), West Brook; Melissa Davies (Mike Peters), London, Ont.; Madeline Pettigrew (Terry), London, Ont.; Carol Proctor (Ernest), West Brook; Valerie Bates (Dave), London, Ont.; Gloria Brownell (Keith Burbine), River Hebert; Kathy Rector (Charles), Amherst; Shelly Rogers (Jimmy), Southampton; brother, Larry (Sylvia McCoy), Parrsboro; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, as well, her special lifelong friend, Bessie Spence; coffee buddy, Marge, and many close friends of Summit Avenue. She was predeceased by a son, Gerald; brother, Bobby. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Monday [October 20, 2008] and 1-3 p.m. Tuesday [October 21, 2008] in Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will follow on Tuesday [October 21, 2008] at 3 p.m., Rev. Greg Doyle officiating. Burial in Harrison Settlement Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
