Hartley B. Robinson
1938 - 2010

ROBINSON, Hartley B. - 72, of Halifax and formerly of Apple River, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Halifax. Born in Eatonville, he was a son of the late Robert and Gladys (Allen) Robinson. He is survived by his wife, the former Berna Cole; daughters, Laurie Robinson (Mike Sevillis), Virginia; Holly Robinson (Bob Foster), Halifax; Leanne Robinson (T.J. Myers), Halifax; a son, Rockie (Kim Thomas), Lower Sackville; sisters, Margaret Bennett, New Salem; Robina Crossman, Newcastle, N.B.; Laura Mae Bennett, Saint John; sister-in-law, Bea Robinson, Hamilton; 2 grandsons, Chandler Karas and Jordan Robinson. He was predeceased by a sister, Alice; brother, George. Hartley was a humble man who was fiercely loyal and devoted to family and roots. A conscientious and thoughtful being, very quiet by nature but as witnessed by family he dispensed advice on life and how it should be lived regularly and adamantly. He gained a good deal of knowledge through his work as an extremely talented building contractor and departed that knowledge to family and to business associates and followed up on it to make sure each and every job was completed to his high standards. He had a love of adventure and discovered the joy of flying in his mid-years. As many of you are aware he went on to earn his pilot license and owned his own plane and landing strip where he reveled in the experience of losing himself in soaring high above the ground. Have a safe flight, Hartley, we will miss you! Visitation 12 - 2 p.m. on Thursday [September 9, 2010] at the Advocate Baptist Church, where funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., Rev. Donald Hirtle officiating. Burial in the Advocate Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Advocate Cemetery or Bayview Memorial Health Care Centre, Advocate Harbour.
