Douglas S. Redmond
REDMOND, DOUGLAS S. – 74, of Linacy, Pictou County passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011 at home. Born in Parrsboro, he was a son of the late Whitney and Effie (White) Redmond. He was a retired miner and welder, having been employed in the west and in the north for many years. Upon his return to Nova Scotia, he worked at the Pictou Ship Yard. He truly enjoyed country music, was a singer and song writer, producing a country music show on local cable in New Glasgow. He was an avid outdoorsman. He is survived by a daughter, Brenda, Calgary, Alta.; sons, Robert, Victoria, B.C.; Charles “Chuck”, Calgary, Alta.; sisters, Hazel “Dolly” Henwood, Cole Harbour; Catherine Meredith, Parrsboro; brothers, Aubrey, Port Burwell, Ont.; Richard (Shirley), Oil Springs, Ont.; Charles (Marie), Linacy; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Glenda; a son, Larry; brothers, George; Stanley in infancy. Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday [May 30, 2011] at Parrsboro Baptist Cemetery, Pastor Philip Scott officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. |
