Donalda A. Burke-White
BURKE-WHITE, Donalda A. – 61, of Parrsboro passed
away Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Northwood Manor, Halifax. Born in Parrsboro,
she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Eleanor (Hemphill) Burke. She was a
graduate of the Nova Scotia Teacher’s College. Upon graduation, she taught home
economics in Montreal for five years. Upon her return to Nova Scotia, she worked
at a youth training facility in Halifax for many years. She was a member of the
Parrsboro Citizen’s Band, was a dedicated volunteer with the Ship’s Company
Theatre, and was an avid gardener. She is survived by her daughter, Angie White,
Halifax; her son, Aron White (Christene MacAloney), Halifax; sisters, Brenda
Wheaton (Billy), Doreen Wheaton (Lester), Patricia, all of Parrsboro; brother,
Paul (Debbie), Mississauga, Ont.; a granddaughter, Ava White. Funeral service
will be held 11 a.m. on Monday [August 15, 2011] at St. Brigid’s Catholic
Church, Parrsboro, Father David MacDonald officiating. Reception to follow in
the church hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the
Parrsboro Citizen’s Band “Save the Hall” Campaign or to the Leisure and
Recreation Programs of Northwood Manor. |
