Bruce E. Wheaton
WHEATON, Bruce E. - 62, of Parrsboro and Halifax passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, surrounded by his loving family. Born in 1949, he was a son of Grace (Adams) Wheaton, Halifax and the late Donald E. Wheaton. Bruce was an outdoorsman, licensed guide and loved to fish for trout, flounder and bass with friends and family. He enjoyed cards, campfires, antique cars, collectable toys and kicking up his heels on the dance floor. Working as a crane operator (better known as “Blueberry”), he was a member of the International Longshoreman’s Association. During his time with Secunda Marine and Irving Oil, he travelled to Europe, South America, the Arctic and was a supply ship crew member during the construction of the Confederation Bridge. He also worked with his father and brother (Brian) paint contracting and in the blueberry industry. Bruce loved to laugh, joke and smile, always extending his hand to anyone in need. He loved life, his loving companion Martha Nugent and dog Rosco, the log cabin and Diligent River. Besides his mother, he is survived by a brother, Brian (Ruth), Parrsboro; a sister, Sylvia Morosin, Ancaster, Ont.; a sister, Sandra Hendren (Garnet), Fall River; nephews, Justina Bachelor (Terry) and Mark Morosin (Heather); Nicholas Hendren; grand-nephews, Caleb and Brody Bachelor; several aunts, uncles and cousins in both Canada and England. He was predeceased by paternal grandparents Jim and Lottie Wheaton (of Parrsboro); maternal grandparents, Reginald and Grace Adams (of Margate, England); a brother-in-law, Silvano Morosin. Bruce, you are sadly missed by all of those who know and love you. A special thank-you to Martha for her caring and tenderness, the doctors and nurses at the QEII Halifax Infirmary and Nova Scotia Cancer Center, the VON, the Red Cross and the many people who reached out to Bruce in his time of need. Funeral service 2 p.m. Tuesday [November 29, 2011] at St. George’s Anglican Church, Parrsboro, Rev. Tory Byrne officiating. Burial to follow in the Parrsboro United Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be given in Bruce’s name to the South Cumberland Community Care Centre (Adult Daycare Unit) or to a charity of choice.
