Crossman, William L. “Bill” – 82, of Parrsboro passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Parrsboro, he was the son of chosen parents, the late James and Mary (Carlow) Fife. Bill lived a simple life, enjoying such things as his vegetable garden. He was a member of the Parrsboro Citizen’s Band, the Parrsboro Fire Department and was an auxiliary member of Legion Branch #45, Parrsboro. Bill enjoyed children, as was demonstrated in so many ways throughout his 23 years as a caretaker at Parrsboro Elementary School. He is survived by sister, Dolores MacFarlane (Carl), Parrsboro, with whom he lived for the previous 4 years; brothers, Malcolm, Riverview, N.B.; Brian (Lauraine), Larder Lake, Ont.; David (Anita), Greenwood; special niece, Tanya MacFarlane-Wood, Parrsboro; special nephews, David MacFarlane, Bass River; Robert Fife, Sackville, N.B.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by birth parents, William and Pauline (Leadley) Crossman; sisters, Eleanor Martin, Ruth Paynter; brother, Donald. A public graveside service was held on Thursday [January 17, 2013] at 2 p.m. in St. George’s Anglican Cemetery, Parrsboro, Rev. Tory Byrne officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Cumberland Branch of the Victorian Order of Nurses.
