Lela M. Field
1920 - 2013

Field, Lela M. – 92, of Parrsboro, and formerly of Advocate Harbour. It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother who went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in New Salem, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Maude (Lunn) Fletcher. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Advocate Baptist Church, a life member of the Women’s Missionary Society, the Emma Dewis Ladies Auxiliary, an Explorer Leader, choir member for fifty years and a member of Phythian Sisters Lodge. In later years she was a volunteer at the Bayview Health Centre and Chignecto Manor. She was a caring and loving person who touched many lives. Her loss will be felt by all who knew her. She will forever be in our hearts. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Donna Dunbar, Waverley; Brenda MacDonald (Bud), Langley, BC; step-daughter, Rose Field, Amherst; step-sons, Brian Field (Sandy), Port Greville; Gerry Field (Jane Caldwell), West Advocate; grandchildren, Heather Richard, Hammonds Plains; Trinda, David and Derrick MacDonald, all of Vancouver (Lower Mainland), BC ; Mike and Derek Field, both of Truro; six great-grandchildren, Janessa, Stephanie, Brandon, Kaley, Alex, Amy; several nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Dara Field. She was predeceased by her first husband, Crofton Atkinson; brothers, Harold, Mort, Carl, Hazen, Percy, Leonard; sisters, Nellie, Emma, Evelyne and Jean. Visitation 12-2 p.m. on Friday [July 26, 2013] at the Advocate Baptist Church, where funeral will follow at 2 p.m., Rev. Don Hirtle officiating. Burial in the Advocate Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Advocate Fire Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kaya’s Kids Mission Project, (c/o Smith’s Funeral Home) which was very dear to mum’s heart.
