Roger J. Lafond
1931 - 2013

Lafond, Roger J. – 82, of Brampton, Ont. and Parrsboro passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at his summer home in Parrsboro. Born in Waterloo, Que., he was a son of the late Adelard and Maria (Caouette) Lafond. Roger served with the Canadian Armed Forces. Later he was employed with Parrsboro Metal Fabricators for many years. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #45, Parrsboro. He is survived by his children, Sherry Harper (Mark), Brampton, Ont.; Denise Bertrand (Paul), Pembroke, Ont.; Peter (Denise), Chapeau, Que.; grandchildren, Roger, Robyn, Gordon, Dan and Alain; 4 great grandchildren whom he cherished; a brother, Andre Lafond, Waterloo, Que.; special companion, Betty Davis, Little River, SC; many nieces and nephews with whom he shared a close bond; as well, in-laws and friends, Allison and Sandra Mills; Diane MacDougall; and his numerous friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Carol A. (Mills) Lafond in 2007; brothers, Marcellin, Laurent and Camille. Visitation 6-8 p.m. on Friday [September 27, 2013] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where a Celebration of His Life, Love and Laughter will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday [September 28, 2013], Deacon Howie Goldstein officiating. Burial in the Parrsboro United Cemetery. Reception to follow in the lower level of the Parrsboro Legion. Memorial donations may be made to Parrsboro Legion Branch #45, Parrsboro, the Canadian Wounded Warriors or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

Roger’s zest for life will be treasured & missed.
