Dowe, Allison C. – 82, of Parrsboro passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan. Born in Ward’s Brook, he was a son of the late Ambrose “Corby” and Bertha (Smith) Dowe. Allison was a retired lumberman and mill worker. He was an avid outdoorsman, and was an active scout leader in Parrsboro for many years. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Bonnie Pemberton; a daughter, Heather (Dowe) Carter, Amherst; sons, Larry, Williams Lake, B.C.; Darren (Angela), Amherst; Ambrose (Philip), Vancouver, B.C.; and a stepdaughter, Laura Fowler (Dave), Ontario; sisters, Leola Wright, Halifax; Barbara Warren (Arnie), Parrsboro; 5 grandchildren, Lacey (Carter) Remington, Robert (Kate), Catlin (Chelsey), Travis (Erin), Megan Dowe; 2 step-grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by an infant son, Artlen; sisters, Laura, Hazel; brothers, Murray, Aubrey. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Tuesday [December 10, 2013] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday [December 11, 2013], Pastor Marie McCallum officiating. Burial in St. George’s Anglican Cemetery, Parrsboro. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
