Stephen C. Kay
1955 - 2013

Kay, Stephen C. - It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved brother, fun loving uncle and precious friend, Stephen Kay. Stephen was born in 1955 to the late Chipman and Ruth (Moore) Kay. He was the second youngest of four children. He is survived by sisters, Margaret Richards (Everett), Berwick; Linda Shannon (David Hatfield), New Germany; a brother, David (Bonnie), Ohio; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a nephew, Stephen. Stephen began his professional career as a hairdresser in 1972. He started a shop in Bridgetown and then decided to move to Halifax where he became partner in a shop on Bayers Road. He then decided to move to Parrsboro where he opened a shop in his Aunt Evelyn's house. Many of his customers remained loyal and followed Stephen wherever he went. Stephen was the light of his Mother's eye. He had so many fun times with her when she visited with his sister Margaret. He rapidly became a local celebrity in Parrsboro known for his professional abilities and love of weekend parties. There are very few who did not experience laughter and fun times with Stephen. His love of life did not ebb after his stroke in 2001 but only gave him more time to enjoy it. Parrsboro was elated to see his return from Halifax in February. Visitation 6-8 p.m. on Friday [December 13, 2013] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Keith Selwyn-Smith, DLM officiating. Graveside committal service in the Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 2 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Salvation Army.

We will always miss our "Special K".
