Marion E. Fillmore
1922 - 2014

Fillmore, Marion E. – 91, of Advocate Harbour. With sadness the family announces the passing of our mother and grandmother on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Bayview Memorial Health Centre, Advocate Harbour. Born in Spencer’s Island, she was a daughter of the late Wellington and Utah (Milton) Grant. Marion was a member of Advocate United Church and the Dulcie Cooke Group for many years. In earlier years, she was a member of the Advocate United Church Choir and loved all aspects of music, including singing and playing the piano. She did the cooking at Bayview Memorial Hospital from 1964 to 1984. She enjoyed baking, knitting, playing cards, bingo, dancing and spending time with her family. Marion had a wonderful sense of humour, was known for her sharp wit and always enjoyed a good laugh. She is survived by sons, Arden (Dianne), Elmsdale; William (Monette), Moncton; four grandchildren, Clifford (Twilah) Fillmore, Moncton; Tina (Chris) Bevis, Halifax; Scott (Monique) Fillmore, Sussex; Michelle (Kevin) Bohaychuk, Halifax; step-grandson, Francois (Jennifer) Legere, Saskatoon; six great-grandchildren, Madeline and Connor Fillmore; Lauren and Logan Bevis; Abigail and Mya Bohaychuk; step-great-grandchildren, Cameron and Sophie Legere; a sister, Della Greeno, Lorneville; a brother, William Grant, Advocate Harbour; sister-in-law, Doris Whidden, Truro; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas; a son, Wayne; a granddaughter, Colleen; a brother, Cecil. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Bayview for “Mom’s” excellent care since she became a resident there in 2010. Prior to this, she resided at the Chignecto Manor since March, 2009, where she also received wonderful care. Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. on Saturday [April 12, 2014] at the Advocate United Church, where funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., Keith Selwyn-Smith, DLM officiating. Reception to follow at the Advocate School. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Advocate United Church or to the Advocate Cemetery Fund.
