1964 - 2014

Hurley, Kevin D. – Age 50, of Parrsboro passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 25, 2014 in Advocate Harbour. Born in Amherst, he was a son of Gary and Regina “Jean” (McCormick) Hurley, Parrsboro. Kevin graduated from River Hebert High School. Upon graduation, he attended Vocational School in Halifax, later moving to Parrsboro to work in the family business as a bus driver. Soon thereafter, he and his father fished lobster and scallops for many years. More recently he, along with his father, operated Hurley Farms. Kevin enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly on their four-wheelers and snowmobiles, spending time at the camp, but he especially enjoyed travelling south each winter with his wife, Shirley. He is survived by his wife, the former Shirley Paris; stepchildren, Troy Harrison (Autumn Durant), Parrsboro; Crystal Hoeg (Matthew), Olds, Alta.; Paige Harrison (Timothy Cook), Amherst; a brother, Eric (Marlene McPhee), Parrsboro; a nephew, Lucas; 9 grandchildren; a great grandchild; father-in-law, Reginald Rushton, Oxford; chosen mother-in-law, Dorothy Harrison, Halfway River. Visitation 6-8 p.m. on Sunday [September 28, 2014] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Monday [September 29, 2014], Rev. Elizabeth Davies officiating. Burial in the Harrison Settlement Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Parrsboro Fire Hall. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
