Johnson D. McPhee
McPhee, Johnson D. – Age 85, of Parrsboro passed away Friday, September 25, 2015 at Bayview Memorial Health Centre, Advocate Harbour. Born in Diligent River, he was a son of the late Thomas and Mary (Gallion) McPhee. A determined and hardworking man all of his life, Johnson worked for many years as an independent heavy equipment operator in Parrsboro and surrounding areas. Johnson was a dedicated husband, father and friend who took great pride in his family, home and work. He spent many winter months in the woods with his dear friend, the late Gerald “Jump” Fader. A very independent man, Johnson was well-suited to the term “jack of all trades,” valuing opportunities to learn and grow from an early age. He had diverse interests and strong opinions, but above all loved gardening, farming, millwork, debating, sharing food and spending time with those he loved. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, the former June Phinney; daughters, Mary (Robert), Gloria, all of Parrsboro; Linda McLellan (Brian), Advocate Harbour; sisters-in-law, Myrna McPhee, Amherst; Helen McPhee, Hampton, N.B.; Marjorie McPhee, Parrsboro; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Kathleen Thompson (Trevor), Jean Repetto (Lloyd), Elizabeth; brothers, Stewart, Morris, George, Thomas, Daniel. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. on Sunday [September 27, 2015] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral 11 a.m. on Monday [September 28, 2015] at St. George’s Anglican Church, Parrsboro, Rev. Dawn Léger officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Bayview Communities Health Foundation. |
