Euda C. Benjamin
Benjamin, Euda C. – Age 84, of Diligent River, Cumberland Co. passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the South Cumberland Community Care Center, Parrsboro with her girls and husband by her side. Born in Yorke Settlement, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Lillian (Bowden) Yorke. Euda spent her adult life living in Halifax (Fairview and Shad Bay) before recently moving back to the cottage in Diligent River. Nan, as she was so adoringly called, was happiest spending time with her family; the bigger the gathering the happier she was! She was a doting grandmother to Jenna, Becky, Joseph and Ethan, always up for whatever they wanted her to do with them. “No” was not in her vocabulary, especially when it came to her grandkids, she would try and do anything they wanted. She was definitely our biggest fan in the stands, her voice and laughter could be heard above all others! Mom never turned anybody away, her home was always open to anyone needing a helping hand. Mom loved to garden, she would make just about anything grow into the most beautiful flower. “Eud” is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Kennie; daughters, Tanya Hardy (Randy), Shad Bay; Rhonda Larsen (Trevor), Fall River; brothers, Willard Yorke (Eva), Diligent River; Chester (Connie), Parrsboro. Nan is also survived by the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Jenna and Becky Hardy; Joseph and Ethan Larsen; and her “best bud” Carl Kelly. Many special brothers and sisters-in-laws and dozens of nieces and nephews, all dear to her heart in some special way. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Alice Elizabeth Larsen; a sister, Ada McCully; brothers, Layton, Malcolm and Joseph. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at 1 p.m. in Grace United Church, Port Greville, where funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., Rev. Lloyd Bruce officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Reception to follow at the Diligent River Community Hall. Memorial Donations in mom’s memory may be made to the South Cumberland Community Care Centre Foundation. All flowers welcome! The family would like to thank Dr. Sue Robinson and Trish (VG Site, QEII, Halifax), and the nurses and staff of South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro for the care, respect, and compassion shown to our mother over the past 6 weeks. |
