Wilfred L. Morris
Morris, Wilfred L. – Age 85, of Advocate Harbour passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan . Born in Advocate Harbour, he was a son of the late Clayton and Hallie (Clark) Morris. Wilfred received his early education in Advocate Harbour, later graduating from Nova Scotia Normal College in 1949. Upon completion, he taught school for 20 years in various parts of Nova Scotia and in Hudson Heights, Quebec. He retired from teaching in 1970. He then operated with his wife, Frances, the Harbour View Lodge (Home for Extended Care) from 1970 to 1976. As well, Wilfred was part owner and manager of the Stowaway Restaurant in Parrsboro from 1973 to 1976. He operated the Harbourlite Restaurant in Advocate Harbour from 1980 to 1985, returning to Harbour View Lodge from 1985 to 1990. Moving to Halifax, he worked as a P.C.W. for Northwood Homecare from 1990 until 2004, when he retired back to his beloved Advocate Harbour. He is survived by a daughter, Terri-Ann Collins, Porter’s Lake; son, Liam Morris, Calgary, Alta; grandchildren, Katie Collins, Advocate Harbour; Jeremy and Jacob Collins, both of Halifax; sisters, Stella Corbin, Sylvia Clark and Ruth Black, all of Amherst; Wanda Webster, Advocate Harbour; great grandchildren, Jared and Sadie. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Frances Grant; brothers, Glenford, Murray and Calvin. Funeral service will be held 11 am on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, Rev. Lloyd Bruce officiating. Burial in the Advocate Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to The Home of the Guardian Angel, Halifax or to a charity of choice. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 27th at 6:00pm at the Advocate cemetery. |
