Harold V. Hatfield

Hatfield, Harold V. – Age 95, of Lakelands, Cumberland County passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Winfred and Edith (Purdy) Hatfield. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Merchant Marine, having made 18 crossings of the Atlantic and Pacific in convoys. Following the war, he attended forestry school and was later employed with the Nova Scotia Department of Lands and Forest until his retirement. Harold had a great love of nature and the outdoors, spending time at his beloved camp in Lakelands with friends and family. He is survived by a daughter, Bev Morris (Steve), Parrsboro; sons, Dana (Lanalee), Dartmouth; Kim (Sandra), Fredericton; Ian (Adrienne), Lakelands; step-sons, Robert (Charlotte), David (Caroline) and Brent (Lisa) Godfrey, all of Halifax; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Christine (Huntly); his second wife, Shirley (Campbell); a son, Harold “Hal”. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
