Heather E. Young

Young, Heather E. – Age 74, of Parrsboro and formerly of Binbrook, Ontario passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at her home while resting in her favorite chair in her favorite sitting room. Born in Guelph, Ont., she was a daughter of the late George and Elsie (Gemmel) Shaw. She is survived by her beloved husband, John; her son, Scott (Chelsey); mother-in-law, Doris Young. ‘Mam’ will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Ashley (Sheldon), Donna (Brandon), James, John (Chloe), Raya and Ari; her sister, Margaret Cole (Robert); a niece, Tracey; her in-laws, Fred, Peggy (Wayne), Robert (Shirley), Janette (Tom), Kathy (Chic) and Ruthanne. Heather will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Heather worked for several years at the West Haldimand General Hospital in Hagersville, Ont. as a registered nurse, but also worked tirelessly on the family dairy farm before retiring to her home in Parrsboro. She leaves many close friends to grieve her loss and her family misses her deeply. Visitation will be held 6-8 pm on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral will take place on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 11 am, her sister-in-law, Kathy Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Fort Lawrence Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

Special thanks are extended to the Medical First Responders (Parrsboro Fire Department), Emergency Health Services paramedics, the local detachment of the RCMP, the Medical Examiner's Office, and of course the medical staff of the QEII, Halifax and the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Your compassion and professionalism will never be forgotten.
