Roy D. Field

Field, Roy Dean – Age 94, died peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, January 6, 2023 at Ajax Pickering Hospital, Ajax, Ontario. Born on June 12, 1928 and raised in Parrsboro, Roy was the son of the late Hubert and Muriel (Grant) Field. In 1949, he graduated from the Nova Scotia Hospital nursing program where he met his future wife, then joined the Canadian Armed Forces where he served for 25 years in various locations across Canada. He retired to Diligent River where he and his late wife Alice (Crowell) ran greenhouses and he later acted as the Hospital Administrator at South Cumberland Memorial Hospital. Following the death of his wife in 2015, Roy moved to Peterborough ON where he lived with his daughter Barbara. Roy is survived by his children, Pat McCardle (Bruce), Peterborough ON; David (Linda Pike), Chilliwack, BC; Barbara Hunt, Stoney Creek, ON; Susan Moore, Truro NS; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; several cousins and second cousins. In addition to his parents and wife of 63 years, Roy was predeceased by his sister Kathleen and his son in law Bruce. A celebration of life will be arranged in late spring when his daughters will bring him on his “last road trip” home to NS. Memorial Donations may be made to CNIB for Macular Degeneration Research.
