Smith, Elwyn I. ‘Ted’ – Age 89, of Upper Economy passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 at home. Born in Five Islands, he was a son of the late Carroll and Elsie (Fielding) Smith. He is survived by his wife, the former Eva Fletcher; daughters, Heather Robinson (Keith), Lower Economy; Linda Yorke (David), Five Islands; Nathalie Jamieson (Ken), Upper Economy; Kathryn Smith (Steve Dunlop), Waterbury, Ct.; step-children, Nancy Dugan (Ross), Calgary; David Gass (Sharon), Truro; Ruth Ann Patfield, Lower Sackville, Stephen Gass (Angela), Truro; sisters, Noreen Lewis, Five Islands; Carol Shea (Mike), Fenwick; brothers, Keith, Bass River; Arnold (Annette), Economy; John, Fenwick; grandchildren, Kara Wright, Dave Yorke and Elsa MacDonald; numerous great-grandchildren, step and step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary and a son, Stephen, both in infancy; a step-son, Bobby; a sister, Carol in infancy; brothers, Leon ‘Hank’, Leroy, Frank ‘Sonny’ and Robert ‘Smitty’. Visitation will be held 12 – 2pm on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral will follow at 2pm, Marty Clark-Ettinger, DLM officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Bass River at a later date. Memorial donations to the VON (Colchester) or to a charity of choice.
