Marsden, Michael G. – It is with heavy hearts, that the family announces the unexpected, though peaceful passing of Michael, age 67, on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at home. Born in Montreal in 1956, Michael was the eldest son of June (Aylward) Marsden, and the late Gerald Marsden. He is survived by his daughter, Amy Firminger (Paul), Upper Cape, NB; mother, June Marsden, Dartmouth, NS; sisters, Colleen Marsden (Jamie Wood), Dartmouth, NS; Rebecca Gallant (Marc), Lower Coverdale, NB; brother, Jeffrey Marsden (Andrea), Sequim, WA; sister-in-law, Colleen MacDonald, Halifax, NS; two grandchildren, Jessica and Adam; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his family, Michael will be greatly missed by countless others, including many lifelong friends, especially those from Five Islands and Shubie. He was predeceased by his wife, Carol; daughter, Michelle in infancy; and father, Gerald. Michael was not just one of a kind, he was exceptional. Michael was a great cook, a master gardener, and he could jerry-rig nearly anything, especially his “War Pig”. Michael didn’t leave (or stay) home without his signature camouflage hat, plaid shirt, or work boots. He was kind and generous, a lifesaver and a devoted caregiver. In keeping with Mike’s wishes, a celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at 3:00 pm at the Five Islands Firehall (please wear your best ballcap). Burial will take place in the Peniel United Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Feed Nova Scotia.
