Pettigrew, Douglas G. – Age 82, of Parrsboro, and formerly of West Brook passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Richard and Margaret (Henwood) Pettigrew. Douglas was a member of the Knight’s of Pythias. He was a long serving member of the Southampton United Church. Earlier in his life, Douglas worked at a shoe factory in Peabody, Mass. He later worked for Dickinson Brothers in West Brook for many years. He is survived by a sister, Alfreda Perry; Godchild, April (McCully) Hill; nieces, Anne McCully, Susan McAloney (Roger), Margo McCully, Michele Taylor (Gary) and nephews, Bill Perry (Kelley), Robert Perry (Danny), Paul Perry (Cindy); numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Bernard Perry. Visitation will be held 12-2 pm on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will follow at 2pm, David Forbes officiating. Burial in the West Brook Cemetery. Reception to follow at St. Brigid’s Hall, Parrsboro. Memorial donations may be made to the Recreation Program at Bayview Memorial Health Centre, Advocate Harbour.
