William A. McCarty

McCarty, William A. ‘Bill’ – Age 84, of Amherst, formerly of New Salem, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2024 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born in Arthurette, NB, he was a son of the late Archie and Mary (Aitkins) McCarty. Bill served 35 years with the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sunda (Corbin); daughters, Kelly Cahill (Mitchell), Summerside, PEI; Dana Hannah (Robert), Moncton, NB; sisters, Shirley Furge (Glen), Hillside, NB; Norma Smith, Arthurette, NB; Beulah Purdy, Riverview, NB; Margaret Bell, St. Catharines, Ont.; Laura Jean Lewis (Bob), Chatham, Ont.; a brother, Hugh McCarty (Jane), Trenton, Ont.; grandchildren, Krystyna Cahill, Brittany Cahill; a great grandson, Liam Cahill; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Lorna; brothers, Floyd and Archie; half-sisters, Hazel Finnamore and Ruth Caldwell; a half-brother, Delison Furge. In keeping with Bill’s wishes, a graveside service will be held at 11am on Friday, November 8, 2024 at the New Salem Cemetery, David Forbes officiating. All are welcome! Memorial donations may be made to the Cumberland County Hospice Palliative Care Society.
