Carman G. Berry
Berry, Carman G. - 70, of Beaverdam Road, Parrsboro died Thursday, June 17, 1999
at the QEII Health Sceinces Centre (VG Site), Halifax. Born in Parrsboro, he was
the son of the late George and Ina (Yorke) Berry. He worked with his father and
brother in the family business, Berry Brothers, in the delivery of coal and ice
in the 1940's. He later worked with the Nova Scotia Department of Highways,
until accepting a posititon with Modern Construction, where he was
superintendent of bridge construction for more than 20 years. He, with his
family continued the family business tradition, starting Berry's Restaurant and
Pub. He was former Mayor for the Town of Parrsboro, and former town councillor.
He was former member of Parrsboro Citizen's Band, the Parrsboro Volunteer Fire
Department, was president of the Chignecto Handgun Club and was a member of
Minas Masonic Lodge, Parrsboro and Legion Branch #45, Parrsboro. He is survived
by his wife, the former Barbara Merriam; two daughters, Lynda Willigar, and her
husband, Myles; Lisa Meyers, and her husband, Fred, all of Parrsboro; one son,
George, and his wife, Heather, of Courtice, Ont.; 7 grandchildren. He was
predeceased by one brother, Lloyd. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today (Saturday) at
Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where Masonic Lodge and Legion services will be
held 7:30 p.m. this evening (Saturday). Funeral 2 p.m. Sunday at St. George's
Anglican Church, Parrsboro, Rev. Robert Richmond officiating. Burial in the
church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. George's Anglican Church,
Parrsboro or to the Canadian Cancer Sociey. |
